Bio-inspired materials in the heart of the Alps

Registration for the Bioinspired Materials 2022 conference has opened. Sign up and join us in the center of Switzerland!

The conference, supported by the NCCR Bio-Inspired Materials, will run from August 7 to August 12 in Andermatt, and focus on the fabrication and characterization of materials made by nature. It will also feature examples that demonstrate how we can learn from nature to build bio-inspired materials.

This event aims to bring together researchers who characterize natural materials, investigate mechanisms by which such materials are produced, and who take cues from nature to fabricate new biomimetic and bioinspired materials. The conference is organized into sessions on biomineralization and bio-inspired hard materials; bio-inspired soft materials; soft robotics; bio-inspired supramolecular assemblies; and colloids for optics and beyond.

The opening plenary talk entitled ‘Organisms manipulate light with crystal mirrors: Structural colors, photonic crystals and vision’ will be held by Prof. Lia Addadi from the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel). Each day will include invited plenary lectures, contributed talks, and there will also be two poster sessions.
